Workshop “Feminism in Research: MENA and Beyond”
We are excited to announce that NIMAR will host the workshop "Feminism in Research: MENA and Beyond" on September 20th-21st, 2024. Organized by scholars from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) project, “Gender, Politics, and Critique in the MENA: Towards a Critical History of Feminism”, this event will explore innovative approaches to feminist research in the Arabic-speaking MENA region.
The workshop aims to rethink the ways feminism is studied, moving beyond traditional narratives to uncover new modes of activism, art, and research that have emerged since 2011. Participants will engage in rich discussions about intersectional critiques of social injustice, war, and inequality, offering fresh perspectives on evolving feminist movements in the region.
This workshop emphasizes collaboration and ethical engagement, fostering dialogue across academic disciplines and institutions. It is a space for mutual learning and the development of transformative, engaged scholarship.
