Call for Papers: Revisiting State Capitalism in the MENA-Region
March/April 2025
The Amsterdam Centre for Middle Eastern Studies (ACMES) invites submissions for its upcoming workshop, “Revisiting State Capitalism in the MENA Region,” to be held in Spring 2025. This workshop will provide a platform to explore the evolving dynamics of state capitalism in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and to examine recent trends in state involvement in economic activity.
The event seeks contributions from scholars engaged with the following key themes:
- The Historical Evolution of State Capitalism in the MENA Region
- (Re)Conceptualizing State Capitalism
- Political Elites and State Capitalism
- Geopolitical Impact of State Capitalism
- Food Security and Energy Transition
Submission Details
Interested participants are invited to submit a 500-word abstract by Monday, 30 September 2024.
