Courses on Islam
NIMAR organises shorter courses, study trips and discussion sessions to teach students about Islam. It is also responsible for creating the right framework for courses followed at Moroccan institutions for higher Islamic education.
NIMAR will develop a range of courses that can be followed during shorter stays in Morocco to help develop a highly qualified Islamic cadre in the Netherlands. It provides academic information on the breadth and history of Islam rather than prescriptive views of Islam.
Morocco is important as the country of origin of the largest group of Dutch Muslims. It also has its own take on Islam as an antidote to radicalisation and extremism. Moroccan funds are used to train Imams from countries such as France at institutes such as the newly opened Institut Mohammed VI de formation des Imams prédicateurs et des prédicatrices.
